The Latest

On Wednesday, the Chiefs signed rookie free agent WR Kyle Sheets.

Sheets was a DII All-American receiver at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.

Sheets was originally signed by the Saints after the 2024 draft, but they waived him before training camp began.

Sheets was the Chiefs’ final addition to their 91-man roster for training camp.

Every NFL team must cut their roster down to 53 men by 4:00 pm ET on August 27th.

Xavier Worthy, Kingsley Suamataia, and Jaden Hicks spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Xavier Worthy

• On his hamstring: “It’s feeling good. It felt good to just be back out here with the guys and be able to play football again.”

• On his comfort with the playbook: “I feel pretty good. I took the time to really learn the playbook… I feel like that really helped me.”

• On his desire to be on the field: “In college, I never missed a game… Having that happen was kind of frustrating, but it was also an opportunity…”

• On his expectations for himself: “Just be the best me. Be the best version of myself. Make the plays I need to make. Every ball that comes to me, catch it.”

• On the WR spots he’s playing: “I’m learning every spot.”

Kingsley Suamataia

• On the feeling of training camp: “It’s a nice environment out here. We’re all just grinding together. It’s going good.”

• On his biggest challenge at camp: “I would say the playbook… It’s who’s going to put that foot forward and learn the playbook and really know the offense inside and out.”

• On competing with Wanya Morris: “It’s been great. I’ve known Wanya for a long time. We’re boys on and off the field… Whoever comes out on the top, we’re still boys, but it’s business out here.”

• What Coach Heck has taught him: “A lot of the fundamental stuff. He’s big on hand placement.”

• The veteran that’s helped him the most: “A big older [guy] I’ve been looking up to since I’ve been here is Trey Smith… One of the best guards in the league.”

Jaden Hicks

• On his experience at training camp: “The dorms are pretty cool… The practices are going well, a fast tempo, so just getting used to that.”

• On Spags and his usage: “It’s good [working with him]. He’s a good guy to be with…” Hicks noted that Spagnuolo is using him all over the field and that he is a versatile player.

• On learning the playbook: “It’s pretty difficult because it’s multiple positions, but it will help me overall.”

• On working with Coach Merritt: “He’s a great coach. A very detailed guy… He’s just a good coach to be around and have in your corner. The communication is at a high level.”

• On competing against Mahomes: “Obviously, he’s the best if not one of the best in the whole league… I try to watch him a lot when I’m out there.”
