Chiefs News
A Historic Run
A Moment of Gratitude
As we wrap up our final daily send of the 2024 season, we thought it’d be appropriate to take a minute to recap some of the historic things we’ve all been privileged to witness over the last seven seasons.
Most fan bases only dream about seeing their team succeed at the level at which we are witnessing the Chiefs succeed, so it’s worth taking a minute to be grateful despite the disappointing Super Bowl loss.
Here’s what we’ve witnessed (it’s almost unbelievable):
5 Super Bowl appearances in 6 seasons
3 Super Bowl victories
Back-to-back Super Bowl victories and a chance to three-peat
7 straight AFC Championship appearances, 6 of them at Arrowhead Stadium
9 Straight AFC West Division titles
A 90-26 regular season record
A 17-4 postseason record
Andy Reid crossed 300 career wins as a head coach
Patrick Mahomes has won two league MVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs
The best part is that hopefully there are still more good days ahead for the Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes is only 29 years old. Another seven seasons is likely and 10 is a possibility.
Andy Reid is 66 and shows no sign of slowing down or wanting to retire.
Brett Veach has proven himself to be one of the elite general managers in the NFL. He has kept the Chiefs competitive in the salary cap era despite Mahomes being paid a significant percentage of the salary cap.
Regardless of how disappointing the outcome of Super Bowl LIX was, there is no reason to doubt the Chiefs’ ability to continue to compete for Super Bowls year after year with the trio of Mahomes, Reid, and Veach leading the charge.

ICYMI: Kelce Talks About Retirement
In case you missed it, we shared the below update on Travis Kelce yesterday.
On the latest episode of the New Heights Podcast, Travis Kelce discussed the Chiefs' loss in Super Bowl LIX and addressed questions about his potential retirement.
Kelce is 35 and just completed his 12th season with the Chiefs.
Here’s what Kelce said about his decision to continue playing or retire:
“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I'm playing next year and right now I'm just kicking everything down the road. I'm kicking every can I can down the road and not making any crazy decisions, but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches.
Understanding that there's a lot that goes into this thing, you know I've been fortunate over the past five [or] six years. I've played more football than anybody. It's because the people that are in that building and the fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and these Super Bowls, that means I'm playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the in the entire league and that's a lot of wear and tear on your body.
It's a lot of time spent in the building, focusing on your craft, focusing on the task at hand, every challenge that you set up for yourself. That process can be grueling. It can weigh on you. It can make you better, and it can drive you crazy at the same time, and right now, it's one of those things where it was kind of driving me crazy this year.
I think that it happens as you as you kind of tail off towards the the back nine of your career as SVP would say. As you see yourself or not feel yourself have the success that you once used to have, it's a tough pill to swallow. Then, on top of that, to not be there in the biggest moments knowing your team's counting on you, those are all extremely hard things.
It's just a tough reality, and you know, I think I'm going to take some time to figure it out, and I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it's going to be something that is a wholehearted decision.
I'm not half-assing it, and I'm I'm fully here for them and I think I could play it's just whether or not I'm motivated, or it's the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”

Luke’s Take
Travis Kelce should do whatever he wants to do.
Based on his comments, I think he’s leaning toward retirement, primarily based on what he shared about the grind of the season driving him crazy as opposed to being enjoyable.
Kelce has been one of the cornerstones of this franchise’s success, so either way, Chiefs Kingdom should celebrate whichever option he chooses!
