The Latest
Chiefs Trade Thuney
The Chiefs agreed to trade LG Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears for a 2026 4th round draft pick.
The trade of Thuney clears $16M of cap space for the Chiefs.
The Bears are expected to give Thuney an extension of $20M+ per year.
The trade cannot officially be processed until the new league year begins on March 12th.
According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, the Chiefs are expected to pursue signing free agent LT Ronnie Stanley.
The Chiefs are expected to give 2024 second round draft pick Kingsley Suamataia an opportunity to play LG.

Luke’s Take
After the Joe Thuney trade, I’m confident the Chiefs will agree on an extension with Trey Smith.
It’s unfortunate that the Chiefs must part with an All-Pro in Thuney, but it makes sense that they would prioritize keeping a 25-year-old Trey Smith over a 32-year-old Joe Thuney.
