We’re almost through the first week of training camp and there are already lots of highlights and storylines.

Highlights:

• Patrick Mahomes and Hollywood Brown are already showing why they’ll be a force to be reckoned with this year.

• TE Jared Wiley made a ridiculous 1-handed catch

• WR Xavier Worthy missed practice for the third straight day due to an illness.

• LT Wanya Morris took all of the first team reps on Tuesday

• WR Justin Watson and CB Nazeeh Johnson exited practice early on Wednesday with injuries

• Kadarius Toney was working with the running backs at practice

Below are some highlights from press conferences over the last few days

Hollywood Brown

• How Chiefs training camp compares to other teams: “It’s definitely a lot faster here”

• Emphasized the importance of his work in the offseason with Patrick Mahomes to help prepare him

• On the WR room this year: “Sky’s the limit for what we could do”

Matt Nagy

• On Patrick Mahomes: “He looks at it as, every year is a challenge.”

• On Kadarius Toney: “The biggest thing is us being able to utilize his strengths… right now is the time to experiment.”

• Nagy talked about how much fun the rest of camp is going to be once the pads come on

Joshua Williams

• On his development: “Anything in my game where there’s room for improvement, I’m trying to improve upon.”

• On the offensive philosophy this year: “I’m no philosopher, but they’re definitely throwing it deep.”

Isiah Pacheco

• On being the person to hype up the team: “That’s just who I am as a person, every day I come in here unsatisfied.”

• On being a veteran on the team: “If I’m not getting the reps, I’m on the sidelines getting reps in to make sure I’m prepared.”

Jawaan Taylor

• On his focus: “Been mainly working on bettering myself with penalties and making sure I’m up on the ball and stuff like that.”

• On the battle between Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia: “Those are both great guys, coming to work each day and embracing the competition.”

Andy Reid

• On Patrick Mahomes throwing more deep balls: “He’s got guys where that’s the best part of their game, is going downfield… so far he’s had some good connections down there.”

• Noted that once the pads come on, a lot of things ramp up, especially competition for starting spots

Nick Bolton

• On recovering from injuries last year: “Me against my own mind, [I] wanna go out there and compete in training camp and get back to playing physical football.”

• Emphasized the importance of trying to force turnovers this year

Clark Hunt

• The goal for this season: “Our goal is to end up in New Orleans playing for another Lombardi Trophy.”

• Emphasized the importance of the team focusing on the task at hand and ignoring the distractions, such as talking about the chance for the 3-peat

Steve Spagnuolo

• On the cornerback room: The starting spot opposite Trent McDuffie is an open battle between Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson, and Nazeeh Johnson
