Injury Report

Headlines from yesterday’s injury report:

  • QB Patrick Mahomes was a full participant

  • WR Hollywood Brown was a full participant

  • LT D.J. Humphries (hamstring) did not practice

  • CB Charmarri Conner (concussion) did not practice

From the Podium

Dave Toub

  • On Harrison Butker: “He’s healthy. Obviously, he’s not 100% but he’s close… On the miss, I need to do a better job of communicating to the holder and the snapper that we were kicking the FG. That was my fault.”

  • On Butker landing on his knee: “That’s his technique. All year long, his technique is to collapse that leg after he follows through… That’s something that’s developed over time. It’s not something you can change just because he got hurt.”

  • On Matthew Wright: “He knew he was coming in [on] a temporary basis. He took full advantage of his opportunity. When Butker came back, we had to cut him.”

  • On kickoffs: “Harrison is back. I think he’ll be back kicking off.” Toub noted that if they want to kick the ball into the landing zone and force teams to return it, they’ll use Justin Reid.

Steve Spagnuolo

  • On last week’s game: “We were all happy except for one play.”

  • On forcing six turnovers and five sacks: “It was nice to finish the game with an interception rather than letting them drive a bit.” Spagnuolo praised the individual efforts that led to each of the turnovers.

  • On the Texans: Spagnuolo praised the Texans’ offense and their weapons at each position. “[Stroud] is as impressive as you’ve heard people talking about… He makes a lot of plays slipping in and out of the pocket and when a QB can do that, I think it makes you really dangerous.”

  • On Charles Omenihu: “It was good to get him back… He’s getting better in the run game… I think he’s getting there, and I’m glad we’ve got him in. We need everybody up front to play like we did last week to help everybody on the back end.”

  • On the mentality after getting six turnovers: “It should inspire them to keep [fighting for turnovers]… Sometimes they just come in bunches. I just hope we didn’t use them all up!”

Matt Nagy

  • On Mahomes: “It’s a lighter day for us. All things considered, he did well. We’ll continue to keep an eye on it…. We know he’s a tough kid, but at the same time, you want to be smart… So far, his mindset is to do everything he can.”

  • On who will play LT this week: “I want to give a lot of credit to Joe for coming in last week and doing what he did… In the end, Coach Reid will make the final decision on [between Thuney and Morris]… For what Joe did in that moment, it speaks to the value he has.”

  • On missed deep shots: “Pat does a really good job of trying to stay on time… It’s not always going to be perfect… When you have a clean pocket, you want to make sure that you’re accurate. If there’s not a clean pocket, it’s not that easy to make that throw. So we’ve got to make sure as coaches we’re doing everything we can to give him a clean pocket.”

  • On balancing the run and pass game: “There’s a lot that goes into that… In general, you do want to be as balanced as you can.”

  • On DeAndre Hopkins: “He understands the selflessness we have in this offense of spreading the ball around in this offense.”

Chris Jones

  • On the turnovers against the Browns: “It felt good… We’ll continue to peak in the right direction toward the end of the year.”

  • On C.J. Stroud: “Pretty mobile guy. Quick release. Good quarterback. That offense is pretty scary… This receiving corps is probably one of the best in the league.”

  • On Charles Omenihu: “We definitely need Charles playing his best… It will be vital to our defensive line’s success.”

  • On playing 3 games in 11 days: “That’s the pros and cons of being a good team.”

  • On Arrowhead stadium: “This fan base is crazy. I love Arrowhead…. GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is probably one of the best in the world.”
