From the Podium

Coach Reid

  • On Nick Bolton: “Getting the wind knocked out of him, then sneaking back in there and making a big play at the end was tremendous.”

  • On the game: “Maybe the best thing was nobody was pointing fingers at each other, just working their way through.”

  • On winning: “We’re finding a way right now, but we’ve got to clean it up and play some better football.”

  • On Mahomes: “He’s a phenomenal player. I thought he kind of got in a rhythm in the second half. A lot of that is my responsibility to get him into that earlier… I thought he really hit it well in the second half. He had some beautiful throws… He ended up finishing well. We kind of botched up the last play when we were coming out of the end zone. We had a missed route there… He’ll be alright.”

  • On the red zone: “It’s tough to win games scoring three points in there… We’ve got to do better than that.”

  • On the stress of close games: “I don’t think you get used to it. You don’t want it to come down to that… The trust that the guys have in each other… When you actually have that, the guys know that something good is going to happen.”

  • On Mahomes interception in the end zone: “We should have had the protection for him. We botched the protection or that’s a touchdown right there.”

  • On Xavier Worthy’s development: “He’s doing a great job… He had a number of routes there in the first 15 that I chose to pull off him because of what they were doing… He’ll have other games where he’ll have more grabs.”

  • On Wanya Morris at LT: “I thought Wanya did some good things in there. We’ll probably stick with that same thing.”

  • On Rashee Rice’s volume of targets: “How Rashee’s game goes is how Kelce’s game goes… They’re working hard at taking Kelce out of the picture… So Rashee is going to get a lot of catches… He’s a force in there. He’s a good football player. He’s tough when he has the ball in his hands.”

  • On slowing down RBs: “[Robinson] is a heck of a runner… I thought we stepped up and did a nice job there.”

  • On winning 132 games with the Chiefs: “It means I’ve been around a lot of good players and coaches. I’ve been lucky to be with two great organizations. You’re only as good as your next one… It really doesn’t matter what took place in the past when you’re in the present here… We know we’re getting everybody’s best shot.”

Nick Bolton: “He was everywhere like a man possessed - better reconsider all the BS that he isn’t a priority to resign for next season!”

Dennis

Other: “It was a team effort: Carson Steele stepped up, Rashee Rice played well & Nick Bolton stopped their last touchdown. So I would say it was definitely a team effort.”
