The Latest

Chiefs Sign LT Jaylon Moore

The Chiefs have agreed to a 2-year, $30M deal with former 49ers’ LT Jaylon Moore.

The deal includes $21.24M fully guaranteed.

Moore was the 49ers’ 5th-round draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Moore has only started 12 games for the 49ers over the past four seasons, serving as the backup to All-Pro LT Trent Williams.

Chiefs Sign RB Elijah Mitchell

The Chiefs agreed to a 1-year contract with RB Elijah Mitchell worth up to $3.5M.

Mitchell was the 49ers’ 6th-round draft pick in 2021 but missed the 2024 season due to a hamstring injury.

Worthy Arrested and Released

On Friday night, March 7th, Xavier Worthy was arrested in Williamson County, Texas, just north of Austin, for alleged assault.

Worthy was booked for alleged assault of a family member or house member by “impeding the breathing or circulation.”

However, by Saturday evening, the online court listing was updated to “dismissed/declined.”

Shawn Dick, Williamson County District Attorney, released the following statement:

"After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation."

Worthy’s attorneys released the following statement on Saturday:

“We are aware of the allegation that led to Mr. Worthy’s arrest. We are working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation. The complainant was recently asked to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity. She has refused to do so and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy. We will continue to cooperate with the Williamson County authorities as we have full faith that their investigation will support Mr. Worthy’s innocence.”

Attorneys Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett

The Chiefs said they were aware of the incident and were investigating it.

Luke’s Take

It’s a bummer to see Thuney go, but it’s necessary for the Chiefs to sustain success.

The Chiefs made the tough decision to invest their money into younger players as opposed to an aging player.

The NFL is a tough business and sometimes teams have to move on from really good players for the health of the team long-term.
