Last night, the Chiefs agreed to trade L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans per Adam Schefter.

Here’s what we know about the trade:

• Sneed is being sent to the Titans

• The Chiefs receive a 2025 3rd-round pick

• The Chiefs and Titans will swap 2024 7th-round picks

• The move opens up $19.8m in salary cap room for the Chiefs

• The Chiefs had $7.6m in salary cap space before the trade and now have $27.4m in cap space per Over the Cap

• Sneed will sign a 4-year, $76m extension with $55m guaranteed with the Titans pending a physical per Jordan Schultz

• This contract will make Sneed one of the highest-paid corners in NFL history per Adam Schefter

The Chiefs drafted L’Jarius Sneed with a 4th-round pick in the 2020 draft.

During Sneed’s four seasons with the Chiefs, he made a total of $5,575,850 while on his rookie contract per Over the Cap. Sneed will now earn nearly 10 times that amount in guaranteed money with the Titans.

Last season, Sneed cemented himself as one of the top corners in the NFL.

Sneed covered the top WR on the opposing team a league-high 65% of his snaps in the 2023 season per ESPN. Sneed dominated those matchups throughout the 2023 season, not allowing a TD reception to his matchup until the AFC Divisional round game against the Bills.

In the Chiefs AFC Championship victory over the Ravens, Sneed made an iconic, potentially game-saving play to knock the football away from Zay Flowers just before he scored a TD.

In 70 total games with the Chiefs, Sneed accumulated 11 interceptions and 47 passes defended according to Pro Football Reference.

Former Chiefs safety Mike Edwards agreed to a 1-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.

Edwards was a key member of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning defense. Edwards became one of the Chiefs starting safeties after Bryan Cook was injured in the regular season.
