QTR 2
The Bills moved the ball easily on their next possession and Josh Allen ran for a 6-yard TD to take a 14-0 lead
The next Chiefs drive stalled again in large part due to a Kadarius Toney drop on 2nd and 12 that would have set up a short 3rd down

The offense drove down the field and Mahomes connected with Rashee Rice for a 5-yard TD pass with 3:30 left in the quarter
The defense then forced a 3 and out, but the offense gave the ball back to the Bills after Rashee Rice fumbled with 0:38 left in the quarter

The offense drove into the Red Zone but had to settle for a 28-yard FG to tie the game at 17

The Chiefs got the ball back with 8:00 remaining, but the offense went 3 and out and punted it back to the Bills who then drove down and converted a FG to take a 3-point lead
With 1:25 left in the game, from the Buffalo 49-yard line, Mahomes connected with Kelce on a deep pass, who then lateraled the ball to Kadarius Toney who ran it in for a TD, but the play was called back due to Kadarius Toney lining up offsides

From the Podium
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes spoke to the media after the game.
Andy Reid
Injuries: None to report
āNormally I get a warning before something like that [the offsides call] happens in a big game. A bit embarrassing in the National Football League for that to take placeā¦ Normally if itās even close, the Head Coach gets a warningā¦ I didnāt have a protractor out there, but itās a bit embarrassing.ā
āIāve been in the league a long time and I havenāt had one like that, at least not one in that position there where itās not given a heads up.ā
The referees did not provide any explanation for the flag
Patrick Mahomes
On what made him boil over: āItās the call man. Just in that momentā¦ for a flag to change the outcome of the game in that momentā¦ Iāve played seven years in the NFL and never had that flag calledā¦ There was no warning throughout the entire game and then you wait till thereās a minute left in the game to make a call like thatā¦ā
āRegardless of if we win or lose, just for it to end with another game and weāre talking about the refs, itās just not what you want for the NFL or for football.ā
On an explanation from the refs: āNone. None from any of them. I asked three different refs and no one said anything.ā
āLet us play man. Let us play the game! And then, whatever happens, happens. The whole throwing the flag and deciding the game one way or another, thatās what hurts me. Thatās why last week I didnāt say anything. Iād rather them let us play and go out there and see who wins.ā
Mahomes emphasized that the referee threw a flag on something that didnāt impact the play āat all.ā
āI hope they still show [that play] whenever he goes into the Hall of Fame because thatās a legendary moment we didnāt really get to witness.ā
āWeāve just got to move on and try to keep this thing going.ā
