5 Ways the Offense Could Improve

Seth Keysor of The Chief in the North Newsletter broke down 5 ways the Chiefs offense can improve after the bye week.

The Chiefs offense hasn’t been as dominant this season as we’re used to seeing in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Five ways to improve the offense:

  1. Get the playmakers the ball: Rashee Rice and Kadarius Toney need more touches.

  2. Stop musical chairs with the WRs: Tighten up the snap numbers and roles for receivers to improve their performance.

  3. More 12 personnel and Noah Gray involvement: The Chiefs are more efficient in 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TE, 2 WR) than 11 or 13 personnel. Specifically, Noah Gray needs to be more involved.

  4. More under-center and power looks for Isiah Pacheco: More straightforward north/south runs instead of sideline-to-sideline plays.

  5. Attack down the field more frequently: There is a growing willingness among opposing defenses to challenge the Chiefs with single high safety looks, indicating a reduced fear of the deep ball. Take more shots downfield with receivers like Rashee Rice and Kadarius Toney to restore the fear factor and open up the field for other offensive options.

Throwback Thursday

Travis Kelce won People’s Sexiest Athlete of 2023.

Throwback to when former Chiefs QB Elvis Grbac won the award 25 years ago.

Elvis may have been sexy, but he wasn’t so hot as the Chiefs QB.

In his 4 years as the Chiefs QB, Gerbac went 26-21 as the starter and 0-1 in the playoffs with a 14-10 loss to John Elway and the Broncos in the 1997 division round.
